Kids Ministry
Children are integral members of the Body of Christ, and we welcome the sounds and activities of children as they fully participate in the life and worship of Wakonda Christian Church.
Preschool Pray-Ground
This space in the front of the sanctuary is intended for families with infants and toddlers, recognizing that small kids are often more engaged when they can see what’s going on. Small tables and chairs, soft toys and crayons help to keep our littlest ones engaged in playful worship.
Wakonda Worship Bags
Located in the back of the Sanctuary, these bags contain board books, crayons, paper and other things to school-aged children occupied. Coloring sheets and additional materials are located on the shelf beneath the bags.
Nursery
If your little one simply needs a break, a nursery is staffed throughout Sunday school and worship. Located downstairs in our Preschool little ones are cared for by our Nursery Attendant, Mindy Koll.
Additional Ministries With Children:
Sunday school is the core of children’s education at WCC. Preschoolers play and learn about their faith, expanding upon our weekly Wakonda Preschool Curriculum. Classes are located in the Children’s Wing at 9:00
School-aged children engage scripture through a series of worship styles from cooking, science, bible story, games and acting. Classes are located in the Children’s Wing at 9:00 a.m.
Wednesdays at Wakonda (W@W) is the core of our children’s and youth ministry at WCC. Every Wednesday night throughout the school year, all school aged children and youth gather for a meal, games and activities. W@W gathers 6-7:30 p.m.
For over 50 years WCC Preschool has helped lay a faithful foundation for learning. Classes available for children ages 2-5. You can find our more about our preschool at http://www.wakondapreschool.com/
In partnership with the Christian Conference Center of the Upper Midwest Region of the Christian Church Disciples of Christ, the church supports students as young as 3 for Grandparent camp, through High School Aged youth to participate in the transformative camping ministry.
